The aim of the Fashion design, Patternmaking and Sewing course, specialized in Luxury and Haute Couture, is to enable people who already have a good knowledge of styling, drawing, patternmaking and sewing, to familiarize themselves with more ambitious projects based on demanding craft skills. It is aimed at students and professionals who wish to direct their careers towards:
High-end ready-to-wear

The Wedding and its universe: wedding dresses, ceremony dresses, suite dresses, mother-of-the-bride or groom dresses etc.

Admission by interview (program not open to beginners)

This diploma is the third year of the program offered by La Maison de Couture. After passing the exams, it leads to the diploma of Stylist, Patternmaker and Couturier specialized in Luxury and Haute Couture.

Admission requirements

Admission is by individual interview. This program is designed for students who have already acquired basic skills in :

  • Patternmaking: design a simple pattern.
  • Sewing: master the assembly of basic garments.
  • Fashion drawing: experience in freehand fashion drawing.

This program aims to perfect the skills of stylists/model makers/seamstresses, enabling them to realize ambitious technical projects. It provides expertise in specific fabrics(lace, flowing materials, transparent materials) and in the development of patterns for evening and bridal gowns.

Content

The curriculum is structured around the following workshops:

The "FLOU" workshop

Intensive training in the assembly of garments in demanding materials, to acquire the expertise needed to create haute couture models.

Example projects

  • Fluid dress with train and drape: placement on fluid fabric, finishes, fastenings.
  • Draped bustier: interfacing, stays, mounting, finishing.
  • Lace and crepe de Chinenegligee with lace appliqué.
  • Models in tulle, embroidered tulle, organza, blistered organza , etc.: preparation, linings, hems. preparation, lining, hemming.

A workshop on Tailoring

Design and production

  • a classic suit
  • a Chanel-type suit (tweed)

Both projects are carried out over two sessions:

Chanel jacket: January 4 to 8, 2027.
Classic suit jacket: April 12 to 16, 2027 (made in jacquard).

Skills developed Construction, interfacing, jacket assembly, tailoring finishing.

Fashion design workshop

TheFashion design workshop helps students toassert their personal style and design their projects . (Creation, choice of models, cost estimates…).
Each student is required to complete four blurred and two tailored projects. The projects must include a Wedding project, in connection with a visit to the Essen wedding show.

Pattern making and draping workshop

ThePatternmaking workshop is dedicated to the development of patterns for models imagined by students in the Fashion design workshop.
It also provides an opportunity to explore the construction of more elaborate models, deepening advanced pattern-making techniques.

Fashion drawing workshop

Representation of freehand and computer-generated models in the workshop.
Drawing of silhouettes and preparation of project data sheets.

Accessories workshop

Two-week themed workshops with guest teachers.

Topics covered: embroidery, hats, molding, textile knowledge, etc.
Mixed approach: theoretical classes + practical workshops.

Accessories week winterNovember 23 to 27, 2026

Summer accessory week: May 31 to June 4, 2027.

Visits

Students take part in two international trips:

Paris, France

  • Première Vision (world reference for fabrics and trends)
  • Visits to haute couture suppliers in the Sentier district
  • Visits to fashion museums

Students are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.

Certificates

Certificate of achievement

In Belgium, private schools do not issue state diplomas. The diplomas issued by La Maison De Couture are certificates attesting to the student’s success in the subjects taught as part of the program.

Materials and supplies

Included in the registration fee :

  • Sewing machines
  • Cutting paper
  • Professional shooting of final study models

Remainder to be paid by the student

  • All fabrics used in the creations
  • Additional supplies (threads, interlining, zips, buttons…)
  • Personal equipment (scissors, squares, tape measure, etc.)
  • Stockman bust size 38 (not compulsory but recommended).

Insurance & Health

Health insurance is compulsory in Belgium.
✔ Students must be affiliated with a Belgian mutual insurance company.
✔ European students must provide a European social security card.
