Luxury and Haute Couture Specialization
Course Overview
The Fashion design, Patternmaking, and Sewing program , specializing in Luxury and Haute Couture, is designed to enable individuals who already possess a solid foundation in fashion design, drawing, Patternmaking, and sewing to take on more ambitious projects based on demanding artisanal skills. It is designed for students and professionals who wish to pursue careers in:

✔ Weddings and everything related: wedding dresses, formal dresses, bridesmaids’ dresses, dresses for the mother of the bride or groom, etc.

Duration: 1 year
Admission based on an interview (program not open to beginners)
This degree program constitutes the third year of the curriculum offered by La Maison de Couture. Upon successful completion of the exams, it leads to a degree in Fashion Design, Patternmaking, and Tailoring, with a specialization in Luxury and Haute Couture.
Admission Requirements
Admission is based on an individual interview. This program is intended for students who have already acquired basic skills in:
- Patternmaking: How to Design a Simple Pattern.
- Sewing: Mastering the assembly of basic garments.
- Fashion illustration: Have experience in freehand fashion illustration.
This program aims to help fashion designers, patternmakers, and seamstresses hone their skills by enabling them to carry out technical and ambitious projects. It provides expertise in specific fabrics (lace, flowing fabrics, sheer fabrics) as well as in the development of patterns tailored for evening gowns and wedding dresses.
Course Content
The program is structured around the following workshops:
The Blurry Workshop
Intensive training in sewing garments made from challenging fabrics, to acquire the expertise needed to create haute couture designs.
Examples of Projects
- Flowing dress with train and draping: draping on flowing fabric, finishing touches, closures.
- Draped bustier: interfacing, boning, assembly, finishing touches.
- A lace and crêpe de Chinenegligee with lace appliqué.
- Designs made of tulle, embroidered tulle, organza, crinkled organza, etc .: preparation, linings, hems.
The Tailor's Workshop
Design and Production
- a classic suit
- a Chanel-style suit (tweed)
Both projects are carried out over two sessions:
Chanel Jacket: January 4–8, 2027.
Classic Tailored Jacket: April 12–16, 2027 (made of jacquard)
Skills Developed : patternmaking, interfacing, jacket construction, tailoring finishes.
Fashion design workshop
The Fashion Design Workshop helps studentsdevelop their personal style and design their projects ( creation, selection of patterns, cost estimates , etc.).
Each student must complete four casual wear projects and two tailored wear projects. Among these projects must be a wedding project, related to the visit to the Essen Wedding Fair.
Patternmaking and Molding Workshop
The patternmaking workshop is dedicated to developing patterns for the designs created by students in the Fashion design workshop.
It also provides an opportunity to explore the construction of more elaborate designs by delving deeper into advanced pattern-making techniques.
The DRAWING Workshop
Presentation of models created in the studio, both freehand and on the computer.
Sketching of the completed designs and preparation of technical specifications for the projects.
The Accessories Workshop
Two-week themed workshops with guest instructors.
Topics covered: embroidery, hats, pattern-making, textile knowledge, etc.
Blended approach: theoretical classes + hands-on workshop sessions.
Accessories Week Winter: November 23–27, 2026
Summer Accessories Week: May 31–June 4, 2027.
Tours
Students participate in two international trips:
Paris, France
- Première Vision Trade Show (the world’s leading source for fabrics and trends)
- Visits to haute couture suppliers in the Sentier neighborhood
- Fashion Museum Tours

Students are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.

Certificates
Certificate of Completion
In Belgium, private schools do not award state-recognized diplomas. The diplomas awarded by La Maison De Couture are certificates attesting to the student’s successful completion of the courses offered as part of the program.
Equipment and Supplies
Included in the registration fee:
- Sewing Machines
- Cutting paper
- Professional photo shoot for graduating models
To be paid by the student
- All of the fabrics used in the creation of the designs
- Additional supplies (thread, interfacing, zippers, buttons, etc.)
- Personal supplies (scissors, set squares, measuring tape, etc.)
- Stockman bust size 38 (not required but recommended).
Insurance & Health
Health insurance is mandatory in Belgium.
✔ Students must be enrolled in a Belgian health insurance plan.
✔ European students must provide a European Health Insurance Card.
