Spring Sewing Workshop - All levels (Brussels)

Who are we?

La Maison de Couture is a Brussels-based fashion design school specializing in eveningwear and bridal wear. We offer training in Fashion design, sewing, Patternmaking and fashion drawing.

Our courses are open to students enrolled in our degree programs, as well as to anyone wishing to take “à la carte” courses.

May 4 to 8 – 2pm-6pm – 211 Boulevard Auguste Reyers, 1030 Brussels

An intensive sewing course is offered during the Easter vacations in Brussels, open to all levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). For 5 afternoons, each participant will be guided in a structured way to create an imposed piece, defined according to level, with a simple objective: to leave with a finished garment, technically clean and truly wearable.

The concept: a set piece according to level

To guarantee solid progress and a satisfactory end result, the project is defined in advance:

Beginner level (1st level)

This level provides the essential basics: machine handling, markers, cutting, assembly and first finishing touches. The aim is to understand the key stages in garment construction and learn to sew cleanly, with good reflexes.

Intermediate level (2nd level)

This level aims to reinforce precision, assembly and adjustment. For the lace option, specific support is provided to master this more delicate material: stability, clean seams, transparency management and adapted finishes.

Advanced level (3rd level)

A more demanding project, designed for those who wish to challenge themselves: more complex construction, a sense of detail, work on the fall, overall balance of the silhouette, and “event” finishes (interior cleanliness, lines, fit, quality of the final finish).

What will be covered during the course:

Depending on the level and the project, the work will include :

  • reading a pattern / understanding an assembly drawing
  • measurements and adjustments (as required)
  • fabric placement and cutting (straight-thread, precision, optimization)
  • assembly techniques, stitching, marking, notching
  • project-specific finishes: hems, trims, closures, interior cleanliness
  • technical” ironing and quality control: the steps that make the difference between “home-made” and “well-finished”.

The aim is not just to “sew”, but to understand construction logic, gain autonomy, and learn methods that can be reused on other projects.
